Fabulous sun burst through the wood slats. It was so white hot it was difficult to look at, so I toned it down somewhat, but it's still the star of the picture, pun intended. The indoor pool is along the way to where I shot most of these photos. It was very warm and humid, and there were some interesting light effects.

The intent here is to bring alive in pictures the beauty I see all around me. Important tools are natural lighting and a tripod. Focus, lighting and subject placement varied depending on the category represented. High Edge Contrast shows fern fronds, stems dark against green leaves which themselves display edge contrast in the shadows. For Perspective, obviously, subject placement is integral. With the old boat and shack, the boat, foreground, is tilting towards the shack, mid-ground, foothills distant in the background. What looks like grass growing on the roof is really trees on a bluff in the background.
As far as what I would do to improve these images, I did re-shoot a couple photographs, in particular the old boat and shack, as the first attempt was less than sharp and composition was unsatisfactory. I returned with a tripod and achieved my desired result. I shot when I thought the light would be best for subject and category. Within the geographical and time constraints allotted one does the best one can with what is available. One can always choose different subjects.
For the close up Postcard assignment I knew most students would choose flowers as a subject. I wanted to go beyond just pretty pictures of flowers to what lives among them. As I delved closer and closer into that world I began to see faces, tiny little faces, so with these images I bring those spirits a little closer to your eyes. The Bee hanging from the flower shows how delicate all it's parts are, and how unexpectedly fuzzy looking he is. Almost want to pet him.
