WEEK 4: Black and White Portraits. Take black and white photographs against a white background, in a variety of poses. Do a before and after greyscale adjustment on one photo. Demonstrate special effects: sepia, blurred background and a gradient tint. Do an analysis of the photos. Click on any photo to see an enlarged version.

I kept the depth of field moderate, focusing on the subject, and used a longer focal length so as to blow out and soften the background. I made sure there was a glint in the eye. I think these photos turned out beautifully and there's not much I would do to improve these images, maybe reflect more light on to the face, and further soften that background in the soft blur. The photo of Clint Eastwood was an inspiration. David is a big fan of westerns and Eastwood is a favorite. The hero, however, is John Wayne.
David is a born soldier, who would risk his life to save others, and put himself in danger to protect the rights and freedoms of all American citizens. |
